Day91 Riverside Chili Cook-Off & Car Show
I go to many car shows throughout the year.
Besides a personal passion for old cars and trucks, a fair amount of my clients are from that industry (and a few sponsors).
The Event: Riverside’s Chili Cook-Off & Car Show.
An annual event bringing the community together for fun, socializing, and entertainment.
The main drag of the city is shut down for about a mile and lined with custom/classic cars, vendors, rides, and entertainment.
This year I decided to open a booth at the show, and glad I did.
Many car shows that I attend, we have a booth, but it is usually focused around pinstriping and custom paint. This one I decided to go completely with car/motorcycle “renderings”.
That said, the booth was a bigger hit than I had expected and photo shoots start tomorrow!
Anyone want to help me shoot a “herd” of motorcycles?
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh………almost forgot!
This was my favorite entry to the show! -rendering free of charge.
Day90 Gallery
It is official!
Today I “tagged” the windows for the new gallery.
I will start putting in pictures (or hanging installations as the art folks like to say) this next week.
Sorry for the redundancy, but when I hang the window pictures that I am having done, I will post more pictures. The presentation is going to be quite breathtaking!
Day89 City Hall
Riverside’s original City Hall Building.
I realized today that I have a new hero: Tilden Coil Construction.
Not only are they the owners of this beautiful building downtown, but they are also the owners of my favorite building in Riverside!
Prior to starting the Riverside365 Blog, I had made it a personal mission to try to capture Riverside as I see it, to show the beauty in the things that we see everyday, and to expose the city’s hidden treasures.
I often found myself taking alternate routes to and from my normal locations just to look for some “new” place to shoot, that forgotten spot.
On such a day, while going to pick up my daughter from school, I came across what I assume was part of an old orange packing plant. What a great building! Though probably far from meeting code, wouldn’t it make a great office/studio? Rustic on the outside, but polished on the inside……
Day88 UCR Art Center
Happy Birthday to Me!
This is the site of the new Art Center for the University of California, Riverside.
I believe this building was the first department store to be located in Riverside. None the less, the inside of this place is beautiful! I can’t wait till it opens.
Day87 Can You Spare a Quarter?
For those of us who frequent the downtown areas of Riverside, perhaps the most pronounced “improvement” to the area is the herding of parking meters.
I can’t help but think that with the dwindling sales and traffic to the small businesses in the downtown district that these new city icons hinder more than help the problem.
Will conditions improve?
The Free parking lot (2 hours anyway) located at the corner of Market & 6th street will soon also be a blast from the past. Though a new parking structure will be erected in its place (beneath the proposed Hyatt Hotel), it too will be a paid parking garage.
Day86 Riverside Overview
Another view of Riverside, from the top of Mt. Rubidoux.
Today I had a friend come to visit.
Though they have been in Riverside for a while, they had never been to the top of Mt. Rubidoux, so that was the goal for the day.
Even to this day, the view from the top amazes me, especially considering its height.
Day84 Off to College
In just over a week, my daughter graduates from high school.
She will be going far away to college (less than a mile) at the University of California, Riverside (UCR).
After dropping her off to take some placement exams, I decided to venture around the school and take a couple of pictures.
I too went to this school, but during my high school years.
I must say that the school has sure changed from back in those days.
